Cambodia visa extension prices by city

The only fully published price benchmark in Cambodia is Phnom Penh: about $45–53 for 1 month, $75–83 for 3 months, $145–163 for 6 months and $285–300 for 12 months through an agent. Agents in Siem Reap, Kampot, Sihanoukville and Battambang handle the same extensions every day and usually quote close to those ranges — but almost none of them publish a table. This page shows you how to use the Phnom Penh numbers as your yardstick in any city, and how to spot a quote that is out of line.

Our complete visa extension guide explains the types and the process. This page is the money companion to it: what extending actually costs, city by city, and how pricing really works when only one city publishes its numbers.

The benchmark: Phnom Penh agent prices

Phnom Penh is where most extensions are processed and where competition between agents is fiercest, so its prices are the fairest reference point in the country. Checked in October 2026:

Extension lengthAgent price (Phnom Penh)Entries
1 month$45–53Single entry
3 months$75–83Single entry
6 months$145–163Multiple entry
12 months$285–300Multiple entry

Those ranges already include the agent's margin — the official immigration fee underneath is lower, and the difference is what you pay for not queueing at the General Department of Immigration yourself. Processing normally takes about 5–10 business days, and expedited handling costs extra wherever you are in the country.

Siem Reap

Siem Reap has the deepest bench of visa agents outside the capital — it lives off long-stay visitors and Angkor-season residents — and quotes there are normally in the same neighbourhood as Phnom Penh. Expect the same four lengths, the same single- vs multiple-entry split, and a similar wait. If a Siem Reap quote lands a few dollars above the Phnom Penh range, that is normal small-city pricing, not a scam. If it lands far above it, walk to the next shop: there will be one within a few streets. Staying in town for the temples first? Our Siem Reap & Angkor guide and the Angkor Pass guide cover the visit side.

Kampot and Kep

Kampot's large long-stay community means local agents process extensions constantly, and the paperwork is typically couriered to Phnom Penh — which is why Kampot quotes sometimes carry a small handling premium and why processing can sit at the longer end of the 5–10 business-day range. The honest way to judge a Kampot quote is against the table above: close to it is fair; a large markup "because Kampot" is not. Plan your timing so your passport being away does not collide with travel — you will need a passport copy for hotel check-ins while it is gone. See our Kampot & Kep guide for the area itself.

Sihanoukville and Battambang

Both cities have working agent scenes — Sihanoukville serves its island-hopping and resident crowds, Battambang a smaller expat community — but neither publishes prices, and the number of competing shops is smaller, so quotes vary more. The routine that protects you is the same everywhere: get two or three quotes, get the total in writing (a message thread counts), confirm single vs multiple entry out loud before you pay, and compare the total against the Phnom Penh benchmark before handing over your passport.

Why nobody else publishes a table

Three honest reasons. First, most agents outside Phnom Penh are small shops that quote case by case. Second, the official fee and the agent margin are bundled into one number, and shops guard their margin. Third, prices genuinely move — they were revised when visa fees changed in January 2025, and stale tables elsewhere still show pre-2025 numbers. That is exactly why this page gives you one verified benchmark plus a method, instead of inventing precise-looking tables for cities that do not publish them.

The five-minute quote check

A 6- or 12-month extension also means a long stretch living here, and that is when health cover stops being optional reading: one evacuation flight to Bangkok costs more than a decade of extensions. Our Cambodia travel insurance guide explains what matters, and the long-stay option most people here use is SafetyWing Nomad Insurance — it can be started while you are already in Cambodia and runs month to month. A worked example: the 12-month quote, judged

Say a Kampot agent quotes you $315 for a 12-month EB extension, "all-in, ten days." Against the Phnom Penh benchmark of $285–300, that is $15–30 over — explainable by courier handling, and reasonable if the total is genuinely all-in and in writing. The same quote at $360 with "immigration fees extra" is a different animal: the extras are where the real price hides, and the benchmark says a fair all-in total exists nearby. Now run it backwards: a $260 "special price, today only" for the same extension should make you more careful, not less — check the entry type (it must say multiple entry), the processing days, and whether the shop will still be there when your passport comes back. The benchmark does not tell you which shop to trust; it tells you what trustworthy pricing looks like, in any city in the country.

Frequently asked questions

Are visa extension prices the same in Siem Reap as in Phnom Penh?

Usually very close. Siem Reap has many competing agents and normally quotes in the same range as Phnom Penh — about $45–53 for 1 month up to $285–300 for 12 months. A few dollars either way is normal; a large markup is a reason to get another quote.

Why do Kampot quotes sometimes cost a little more?

Most Kampot applications are couriered to Phnom Penh for processing, so a small handling premium and a slightly longer wait are normal. Judge any quote against the Phnom Penh benchmark table on this page.

Can I extend my visa in Battambang or Sihanoukville?

Yes. Agents in both cities process Extensions of Stay routinely. Prices are not published, so get two or three written quotes and compare them with the Phnom Penh ranges before you commit.

What is included in an agent's extension price?

The quoted price normally bundles the official immigration fee and the agent's service margin. Confirm the total in writing, including any photo, processing or delivery extras, before handing over your passport.

Is a much cheaper quote a good deal?

Be careful. A price far below the Phnom Penh benchmark usually means extras are added later, the entry type is not what you asked for, or the shop is not established. A few dollars of difference between shops is normal; a dramatic discount is the red flag.
