✅ Before you go — the 30-second checklist

  • The e-Arrival card is mandatory and free. Fill it in at arrival.gov.kh within 7 days before you land — it's separate from your visa.
  • A tourist eVisa costs $30 at the official site, evisa.gov.kh. Sites charging $60–$80 are resellers — you don't need them.
  • Might stay longer than a month? Enter on the $35 Ordinary (E) visa instead. A tourist visa can't be converted later.
  • Thailand's land borders with Cambodia are closed (since June 2025). Crossing between the two countries means flying, for now.
  • Your passport needs 6+ months of validity left, and Phnom Penh's airport is the new Techo International (KTI).

Facts last verified: October 2026. We re-check our visa pages every quarter and date them — prices change, and old pages elsewhere still show the pre-2025 fees.

🩺 Health insurance abroad: the bill you don’t want

Cambodia doesn’t require insurance to let you in — but serious treatment here usually means a private clinic and an evacuation flight to Bangkok, and that bill lands on you in full. The cover most long-stay travelers here use is SafetyWing Nomad Insurance: from about $63 per 4 weeks, $250,000 of medical cover, and it works in 180+ countries — buy it for Cambodia, keep it for the whole region. Unusually, you can even start it after you’ve already arrived.

How Wander Cambodia works

We're an independent guide, not a travel agency and not the government. We research Cambodia's rules, prices and places against official sources, date every page, and tell you the plain version — including when the honest answer is "pay the $30 official fee and skip the middleman." If a page ever disagrees with an official source, trust the official source — and tell us, so we can fix it.
